How to drive safely on Washington State roads after deadly collision
Three people were killed and two others seriously injured on the West Coast in a crash that also sent an SUV plowing into a tree and into a freeway.
Officials said the SUV went off the road onto the Washington State Turnpike and slammed into a median.
Authorities said it was not immediately clear if any of the injured were from the crash.
The crash was the first of the year for the state.
The crash occurred near the intersection of the Washington Turnpikes with the eastbound Interstate 5E overpass in Woodland Park.
A Washington State Highway Patrol spokesman said the interstate was shut down and was reopened at about 5:30 p.m.
