Ford announces next-generation Ford Focus electric hatchback
Ford has unveiled a new, electric version of its flagship Focus hatchback, the first car to come with the new Ford Focus EV plug-in hybrid system.
The new Focus hatch has been in production since last summer and features a more modern design with a larger roofline, more prominent headlights, a revised rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser.
It also comes with a new six-speed manual transmission and a redesigned front bumper.
The Ford Focus hatch gets more room and has a slightly longer wheelbase.
It weighs 434 pounds (213 kilograms) more than the current Focus, and has 1,600 pounds (700 kilograms) less weight on the floor.
The new Focus is the first of the automaker’s electric lineup to come out with the plug-ins, and it joins a list of other new Ford EVs to come.
Ford’s electric Focus was introduced in 2016 and has been available for some time now.
